Back in December I ordered parts for an entirely new “face” of the car: headlights, grille, and turn signals, out of a general assumption that it would make a big difference.

Comically, those parts arrived while the car was being stolen and ditched in Denver, and they’ve been sitting around for months now taking up space.

Also pictured here are LED headlight bulbs, which should hopefully provide better visibility at night.

As you can see, my suspicions about needing these parts were correct.

Looks like the previous owner really took this thing off-roading!

Pile of trash...

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find replacement chrome trim pieces online anywhere, so I’ll have to reuse the originals...

But, they polished up pretty good with a little bit of toothpaste on a towel...

I completely forgot to take any photos while the whole front was removed (sorry!), so we’ll just jump to the final result.

I am not thrilled. I didn’t realize the grille was both the wrong color and didn’t have the chrome border on it. The color itself might be okay once the car is painted green, but the missing border makes it look super weird. I‘m going to try to find a replacement.

On the bright side, everything else looks great, and it’s still a world of difference.

And the new LED headlights are excellent at night too!
